5 Things We Weren't Expecting From The Royal Wedding

Finally all our suspicions, doubts and hopes have been put to rest. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have married in front of the world at Windsor Castle, and even those who were pretending not to be interested were glued to their screens with uncontrollable smiles.

Since this is was the biggest wedding of the year, there was speculation about pretty much ever aspect of the big day, but in true royal wedding style, they successfully kept all of the juicy details hidden from the most dedicated Royalists until the very day.

Read below 5 things that we weren’t expecting from the royal wedding this weekend…

The Dress

This was probably the most talking about aspect of the wedding, and although those who were following the preparations though Meghan would choose the Australian designer Ralph & Russo, she in fact wore a gorgeous Givenchy dress, with a 5 metre long trail. The minimalist dress was made my Givenchy’s Artistic Director, Clare Weight Keller, and in true Meghan style, she made a simple design look completely gorgeous.

Harry’s Outfit

Prince Harry opted for the frock coat uniform of the Blues and Royals. He hand a handful of options to choose from, ones that were considerably more ‘superior’ to this one, but instad he opted for the simple (in comparison to his brother’s from 2011) design of this one.

The Tiara

To our amazement Meghan wore a diamond bandeau tiara given to her by the Queen. It was made in 1932 for Queen Mary!

The Ceremony

Amid much discussion about Meghan’s apparent dismissal of her roots, the ceremony blew us all away. With a speech from the presiding Bishop, Michael Curry, about passion and love and God, along with an amazing choir, we all took a step back to listen and take it in. With laughs from the guests, it was refreshing and certainly different from the previous ‘British’ royal weddings.

The Guest List

…It didn’t disappoint. With Oprah being one of the first to arrive, we knew there would be many more familiar faces to follow. See below what they wore below, and let us know your favourites!
