The primary inspiration for Watters’ new collection for the Fall 2019 season is made clear first by its title, and then by taking a closer look at the silhouettes, embellishments and fabrics of the dresses. Poetically named ‘The Sun Was Shining on the Sea‘, the influence of the rolling waves of the ocean can be seen across this range, creating a set of gowns that boast long flowing skirts, delicate draped fabrics, and several mermaid cuts too! Watters’ sister label Watters Willowby has always derived inspiration from nature, and now it seems that Watters has followed suit.
Not only released in the traditional white, but in shades of ivory and nude, the wedding dresses in the ‘Sea‘ Collection were not designed to be extravagant, but to draw the eye through their subtle use of color and the entrancing ripple effect included in many of these dresses’ skirts. And the designers at Watters truly have committed to the ocean theme, using scallop necklines and backs and structured sweetheart cuts that immediately make us think of The Little Mermaid. The result is a collection of delightful feminine gowns that are perfect for all types of brides, regardless of stylistic preference.
With a variety of necklines, shapes and fabrics used, there really is something for everyone within the new collection from Watters. The dependable floral motifs make an appearance throughout, and as with every major bridal designer, tulle is manipulated with skill to create some truly beautiful skirts. This is a collection that should not be missed by an bride to be looking for her perfect dress; and we would certainly recommend it for an upcoming summer wedding celebrated by the coast!
